Seljuki Saʿāda Cresent Necklace (2015)
Seljuki Saʿāda Cresent Necklace (2015)
Sterling silver (3D printing in wax, lost-wax casting, polishing)
2025

This is a delicate, contemporary necklace inspired by Seljuk geometric artistry in a crescent-shaped form. It features an intricate openwork lattice of interlocking circular motifs, evoking traditional Seljuk ornamentation and Islamic geometric design. The fine geometry creates a sense of rhythm and continuity, balancing symmetry with fluidity. In the Seljuk world, happiness (saʿāda) was understood not as pleasure but as the quiet harmony of the soul with the divine order of creation, which translates to mutluluk in Turkish (happiness).

Suspended from a thin black twisted cord, the golden crescent appears both luminous and lightweight, resting elegantly against the skin. Its design merges historic symbolism and modern minimalism: the crescent, often associated with renewal and harmony, is reimagined here through precision craftsmanship and contemporary materials. The piece embodies the fusion of heritage and modernity, geometry and grace.
